NASYA Corpag Amsterdam

Nasya was an intern at Corpag Amsterdam for 3 months while completing her Masters in International Trade and Investment Law at Maastricht University.

“I learned a lot during my internship at Corpag. As a legal intern having her first exposure to the trust industry, I was involved in establishing the Group’s global legal library and analyzing the signing procedures in different Corpag offices. Through this, I familiarised myself with different (legal) document templates over time, comparing their contents and identifying possible points of improvement, along with documents that need to be reviewed by an external lawyer. I was also involved in handling daily legal and sometimes compliance matters. I loved that my colleagues tried to involve me in as many projects as they could, guiding me throughout, showing that they cared for my personal development. Furthermore, having the opportunity to work for different Corpag offices, including the Netherlands and the BVI offices, was both insightful and fun. The friendliness of my colleagues, the quality of work Corpag strives for, and the international environment made my internship a wonderful steppingstone to starting a career in this industry. However, the end of my internship in Corpag is not truly the end of my experience here - I will continue working as a Junior International Legal Counsel.”

FLEUR Corpag Amsterdam

Fleur was an intern at Corpag Amsterdam for 5 months while studying Human Resource Management at Avans University of Applied Sciences.

“Due to COVID-19 finding an internship was very challenging. Luckily, I received the opportunity to follow my internship at Corpag. I knew this was a great opportunity to develop myself on both a personal and professional level. Right from the start, I was given a lot of responsibility and because of this, I learned how to apply my HR knowledge in practice, in a small and international organization. During my internship, I amongst others conducted research in Employer Branding and was part of the Corpag Academy team. The great diversity in the team, with many colleagues having different nationalities and backgrounds, also made the internship very interesting and educational. The experience resulted in the opportunity to continue working at Corpag. This made my internship extremely valuable.”

SOPHIE Corpag Amsterdam

Sophie was an intern at Corpag Amsterdam for 3 months while studying Law in an European and Global Context at the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa (UCP) in Lisbon.

“I applied for an internship at Corpag because the services they provide and the wide range of legislation they work with, I thought it would offer me a great learning opportunity. And so it did. My learning curve proved to be very steep, as I was given responsible tasks right from the get go. That allowed me to understand how the company works and exactly what kind of services it provides to its clients. I conducted legal research, wrote memorandums, reviewed resolutions and drafted agreements which was a great opportunity to learn. I have assisted the Legal Account Managers with matters related to trust services. Due to the fact that the office in Amsterdam is a multinational environment, I had the pleasure to work with people from all over the world which made my experience even more interesting.

I gained a lot of knowledge related to trust services and had the privilege of being part of a great team of professionals in Amsterdam Office. Corpag will give you the opportunity to build a strong skillset and gain knowledge of the trust industry, if you are only willing to learn…”

Susanne was an intern at Corpag Amsterdam for 3 months after graduating in Master of Laws from the University of Helsinki.

“I applied for the internship at Corpag because I wanted to work in another country and I wanted to work with data protection in an international company. During my internship I worked on a GDPR project. I assisted the data protection officer with setting up frameworks and procedures related to the implementation of GDPR. I conducted legal research, wrote memorandums, reviewed and drafted agreements and documents related to the GDPR. In addition to the GDPR project, I also assisted Legal Account Managers with matters related to trust office services. I performed due diligence, periodic reviews and risk analysis for clients related to anti-money laundry laws and laws related to prevention of terrorist financing. I gained a lot of new knowledge and developed myself professionally by taking responsibility. I enjoyed working in an international environment, and the working atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly at Corpag. This internship is an experience which is very valuable for my future.”

Gijs was an intern at Corpag Willemstad in Curaçao for 5 months while studying International Financial Management at the Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda, The Netherlands.

“I assisted accountants and helped the local director with a variety of tasks which gave me great insights and diverse perspectives for the internship report I had to draft as part of my course. I learned to work with different nationalities and the communication skills I developed at Corpag are still helpful today. Apart from the professional experience Corpag can give you, the office in Curaçao has a chill vibe and there are enjoyable things to do besides Corpag in Curaçao, which resulted in pleasant life experiences. If I can give tips to any future intern at Corpag: enjoy, you will miss it!”

SVENJA Corpag Amsterdam

Svenja was an intern at Corpag Amsterdam for 3 months during her Masters of International Business Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

“During my internship at Corpag, a project of my own was entrusted to me, I worked on new transaction monitoring guidelines. This was a very valuable experience to me because I gained insight into the corporate compliance area, but also the corporate environment as a whole. I enjoyed that I was given much responsibility right from the start and very quickly I understood that it was expected from me that I would bring new perspectives to Corpag because I had to look at what changes could be made to the compliance policy which was then in place. Through my project, I learnt much on one specific area of regulation, and how it applies in practice which was very beneficial when drafting my Master thesis. Also I enjoyed that thanks to my project I got in touch with all of the employees in the Amsterdam office, and I gained insight into the various professions at Corpag.  I got offered a job during this internship which made my (internship) experience at Corpag even more valuable..”

DAVID Corpag São Paulo

David was an intern for Corpag São Paulo for 3 months while doing an academic exchange program at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and later worked for 4 months at Corpag Hong Kong as compliance & legal assistant while doing his Master’s in Business Law at the City University.

“My curiosity was triggered by the website of Corpag and I wanted to learn more about the trust industry, especially because in France, Trusts are “ULOs” (unidentified Law Objects). I loved my experience at Corpag because it was my first real experience in a company, and I got “real work”, I started working on international corporate structures, including amongst other Miami, BVI and Curaçao. I gained insight on the legal and compliance work which international business necessitates. The small and international Corpag team were helpful and they trained me quickly so that I could work independently with rigour and I learnt to meet our clients’ expectations. In Hong Kong, I assisted in obtaining the accreditation from the Hong Kong Chartered Sectretaties “Anti-money Laundering and anti-terrorist financing”, which was interesting from a legal perspective, but I also experienced the challenges of young local offices which still have to be developed. My experience at Corpag is still useful today: I recently completed an internship at Dechert LLP in International Arbitration (Paris) and worked on international tax structures, which I already knew from my work in São Paulo and Brazil. I am currently preparing for the French bar exam”.

My experience at Corpag has been an eye-opening journey.

-

JOANNE Corpag Hong Kong

Joanne studied Law at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom and did an internship at Corpag Hong Kong for 1 month.

“I want to become a commercial lawyer in Hong Kong and I applied to an internship at Corpag because it would provide me insights on trusts, corporate law and company law in the Asia Pacific region. I will be completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws, which is the legal training before qualifying as a practitioner or barrister in Hong Kong. During my internship at Corpag, I wrote a number of memos on Hong Kong’s and Singapore’s corporate law and helped with translations of legal documents. Unlike in university, where everything was taught and guided, I learnt to become an independent learner throughout the internship when researching laws that I am not familiar with. My experience at Corpag has been an eye-opening journey, not only did I get to know more about laws and regulations, I also get to know colleagues from all walks of life! If I could give tips to future interns, I would say: be open-minded, try to get involved with different files and projects, don’t be afraid to ask questions as colleagues here are very friendly, and last but not least, enjoy your experience!”

EZEKIEL Corpag Miami

Ezekiel worked as account manager for a year at Corpag Miami while completing his Masters’ degree in Business Administration, specialised in Finance, at the University of Miami.

“I was already interested in the Trust industry and the great reputation and quick growth of the Corpag group convinced me to apply. I had no experience in the Trust industry before and learned quickly from the team in Miami. I was also able to develop my professional network which still helps me throughout my career. Being in contact with clients worldwide was one of my favorite aspects of my job. In addition, I applied knowledge from my Masters to the practice in the Trust industry. The greatest moment was when I brought in my first client, I experienced it as a great achievement for myself and my team was really proud which made me feel as a true asset to the Group. What I liked about Corpag is that while it is still continuously growing, you can still build personal relationships with everyone, including all executives and managing staff. Corpag will give you the opportunity to build a strong skillset and gain knowledge, which is a great kickstart for your career. In addition, I can still count on the friends I made at Corpag.”
